LEADERSHIP

I am deeply honored to serve as President of the Tennessee Counseling Association for 2022-23 and excited to lead during a transformational time for our profession. A season of growth, change, and renewal is upon us as more states enter the Counseling Compact. This is a major step in the right direction to ensure that counselors are able to seamlessly provide services to clients in need without the barriers of state-to-state licensure limiting clients’ access to high-quality professionals.

Another change as we emerge from the pandemic mindset and way of life is our return to an in-person annual conference scheduled for November 10-13, 2022 at the Embassy Suites - Cool Springs. The conference and hotel registration information will be available soon and I hope that each of you will join us!

As we continue to evolve beyond the recent challenges and triumphs, advocacy, membership engagement, growth, and retention, and continuous learning opportunities will be the focal point of our work. It is my hope that TCA will continue to grow and thrive, but we need your support to make that happen. I, along with the executive council, welcome your feedback on programming ideas and CE topics to strengthen our efforts to engage our members and provide meaningful support and opportunities.  You may reach out to any board member, chapter/division leader, or the Executive Director Kat Coy to share ideas and feedback.  I would like to personally invite those interested in being more involved at the state or local level to reach out to me or any TCA leader to inquire about emerging leadership opportunities, and yes—we welcome the involvement of graduate students because you are vital to the future of TCA.

In closing, I’m proud of our resilience and our progress as we have endured a pandemic and social unrest, and I’m grateful to each of you for continuing to choose TCA as your professional community. I’m looking forward to serving on this journey with you all and continuing the work of previous leaders to move us in a positive direction.

Best,

Constance B. Certion, Ed.D.
